Amusement Ride Certifications & Inspection Services

The team of Professional Engineers and Technical Specialists at RCM has been working closely with our clients for over 20 years in providing expert advices and services in amusement ride certifications and inspection services.

In addition to our extensive experiences in the industry, RCM staff are certified in Amusement Ride Inspection from the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (NAARSO) and sit on the Amusement Ride Technical Advisory Committees for both the TSSA and the CSA Z267: Safety Code for Amusement Rides. RCM also continue to maintain our strong involvements in the ASTM F24 Committee for Amusement Devices and TSSA Technical & Certification Advisory Board for Amusement Device Mechanic Certification.

To operate amusement device(s) in Ontario, the owners/operators must obtain an “Ontario Licence to Carry on the Business of Operating Amusement Devices” and a permit for each device issued by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).

Safety Engineering for Large Scale Public/Special Events and Facilities

World Youth DayOver the years, RCM has acquired a great deal of expertise that is unique and relevant to special events, concerts, exhibitions, fairs, and trade/consumer shows. RCM was proud to be selected by World Youth Day 2002 (Toronto, ON) to provide a comprehensive range of safety engineering services that were designed to maximize public safety and enjoyment of the Papal visit where over 800,000 people attended. RCM’s responsibilities in the immense event include:

  • Water Supply Management
  • Slip and Fall Protection
  • Wind Load Calculations

SARS concert CBCSimilarly, RCM was contracted to provide safety engineering services for the Molson Rocks – Rolling Stones SARS Benefit Concert in Toronto in July 2003 due to our extensive experience with public events.

Factory Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs)

Amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act in Ontario require industrial establishments to carry out, under specific conditions, engineering reviews for new, used or modified equipment, structure, or process is constructed, added or installed into the workplace in order to provide improved operator safety and assists in the reduction of workplace injury and unwanted claims.

RCM performs through compliance evaluations on machinery and processes to ensure the associated safety guarding/shrouds and related safety features satisfy the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Labour Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA reg. 851) including Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews and risk assessments. RCM provides complete set of documentation to support and demonstrate your due diligence in injury prevention.
