Position: Quality Assurance Specialist
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Position Location: Pickering

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the QA Manager, we are seeking an energetic individual with some QA experience and relevant post secondary education to join our Quality Assurance Department. The QA Specialist performs both internal and external audits and surveillance to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, manuals, and procedures that reflect the expectations of the Senior Vice President and the requirements of the RCM Quality Assurance Program.

Role Accountabilities
* Develops and implements company and regulatory quality standards in the Engineering Office
* Provide QA support to engineering and project management divisions as required
* Reconciliation of differences  between standards and assurance that the RCM Quality Program governance meets all applicable standards
* Oversight of QA Orientation and facilitation of process roll-out and training for employees
* Management of the Quality Program Assessments, including scheduling of self-assessments and audits, and distribution of the results of those activities
* Assessment and reporting of trends for conditions adverse to quality
* Review of quality actions, e.g. non-conformance, corrective and preventive action requests, for adequacy and effectiveness
* Reports to senior management on the status and results of assessments and quality actions
* Verification of QA products and internal requirements such as certificates of conformance and purchasing specifications

Role Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sciences or related field and/or a combination of relevant work experience and education is required.
* 4-7 years’ experience of related work experience within a nuclear environment
* Ability to be certified as a Lead Auditor under ISO 19011 and NQA-1 requirements
* Accreditation by ASQ as a Certified Quality Auditor is an asset
* Good understanding of Nuclear Industry and Governmental quality/management regulations relative to the design and operation of a nuclear power plant is an asset
* Demonstrated alignment with the organizational values of commitment, integrity, respect and teamwork
* Superior written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to interact well at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
* Demonstrated knowledge and ability in practical application of QA principles
* Demonstrated experience in creating, revising, updating and controlling governance documents
* Ability to work within a multi-discipline team environment, in close proximity with others
* Ability to take direction from coworkers and superiors
* Ability to work to tight deadlines, work well under pressure, and respond rapidly to changing demands
* Results oriented and takes ownership of assigned tasks, strong multi-tasker and team player
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must
* Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to effectively work with peers as well as internal and external clients
* Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

Position: Intermediate Engineers – Mechanical, Civil & Electrical (5 to 10 years’ experience)

General Duties:

  • Prepare or verify, including PEO certification/sealing as required, engineering products such as:
  • Engineering, Technical, and Procurement specifications
  • Engineering drawings, design/stress reports, engineering calculations and equipment/system design in accordance with all applicable codes and standards
  • Code related calculations and reports as required
  • Design Plans and associated documents to customer specifications
  • Project specific instructions as required
  • Accountable for the technical interpretation, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments and is assigned projects with unique problems that have major organizational impact and may involve exploration of the subject area, definition of scope, and development of novel concepts and approaches.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Mechanical engineers: Nice to Have; Fire Protection, HVAC, Containment Boundary, Familiarity with Nuclear Engineering, Pressure Vessel & Pressure Piping Code 

Electrical engineers: Nice to Have; Building Automation, Fire Protection, SCADA, HMI, PLCs, Control Systems, MV/HV, protection principles and relaying, switchyard/substation and power distribution

Field Engineers: Nice to Have; Knowledge of Valves, Failure Analysis, Testing & Commissioning, Construction & Design

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant area of study from a university of recognized standing and is a member of PEO or eligible to be a member of PEO
  • Familiarity with complex engineering concepts, practices and procedures and regulatory requirements relative to the design and operation of a Canadian Deuterium (CANDU) power plant is an asset.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to interact well at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to work within a multi-discipline team environment and take direction from coworkers and superiors
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, work well under pressure, and respond rapidly to changing demands
  • Results oriented and takes ownership of assigned tasks, strong multi-tasker and team player
  • Must have the ability to be flexible and work with competing priorities.

Position:  EIT – Mechanical, Electrical I&C & Civil Engineers

Duties:

The use of industry design codes, engineering standards, and construction methods

Creation of design specifications, drawings, bills of materials, and calculations in accordance with a Nuclear Engineering Change Control process

Works in accordance with established codes, standards and specifications

Assignments, normally performed under close supervision of a supervising engineer

Routine tasks include specific instructions and details with respect to expected results and may include technical surveys or inspections, preparation of simple plans, designs or drawings, costing, recording observations, calculations and operation of computer programs

Strong English written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work in a team environment

Interaction with other engineering disciplines, and clients may be required

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s graduation in engineering or honours science degree; specifically, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering

Must be eligible to obtain their Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) Certification

Results oriented and takes ownership of assigned tasks

Superior written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to interact well at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders

Ability to work within a multi-discipline team environment and take direction from coworkers and superiors

Ability to work to tight deadlines, work well under pressure, and respond rapidly to changing demands

Travel within Southwestern Ontario may be required therefore must have valid driver’s license
